One may think that a small bathroom remodel process may be less complicated than that of a larger bathroom. Although this assumption is correct, a small bathroom remodel process also requires extensive planning. Many stages of the reconstructing procedure could be carried out in person, although certain areas such as plumbing and electricity reworks may require professional help.

Prior to any remodeling process, the required changes and modifications should be planned out. The intended results should fit to the available space and the features of the bathroom. Furthermore, the exact suggested changes of the small bathroom remodel process should be documented as this would help the process later, if any more alters have to be added.

In addition, it should also be decided whether the finished bathroom should be a half bathroom or a full service one. Half bathrooms normally have a toilet, a sink and simple electrical work. If a full service bathroom is intended, additional features such as a bathtub, bathroom cabinets and special ventilation techniques need to be implemented. The type of bathroom flooring should also be decided carefully to cope up with the constant moisture associated with the bathroom. Moreover, the designated users of the bathroom may also affect small bathroom remodel process. If this will function as a master bathroom, the use of high quality material is recommended while an overnight visitor s bathroom may not need the highest quality material.

The next phase of the small bathroom remodel process is choosing a contractor. Normally, hiring a contractor for the process would cost close to 15,000 dollars with the usage of high-end material. However, the same remodel process if done by an individual himself/herself could cut that cost by nearly 50%. Another alternative would be to carry on the process as much as possible and calling professional assistance when needed.

If one decides to carry out the small bathroom remodel process by oneself, a projected timeline and a proper order to perform the work should be listed. Completing the process in a logical order is important as a single misplaced process such as closing the walls before installing the plumbing, would lead to catastrophic consequences. In addition, the necessary raw materials should be brought in advance to the work site so the unavailability of raw materials would not slow down the remodeling process.

A small bathroom remodel process would provide quite a challenge to an individual and may even be considered as a headache. However, careful planning and a well organized work process would aid oneself in achieving the perfect bathroom.

I’ve removed the ceramic tile, but haven’t prepared the floor for vinyl tile, yet. Would it be better to fill in with the ceramic cement, or sand smooth and install plywood first, for level surface.
