I’m Remodeling My Bathroom And Want To Change The Tiles Around The Tub,could I Save Time & $ By Painting Them

You could but it would look like it. If you are going to the expense of remodeling it would be better to replace them. If that is not possible try to stain the grout. Another idea to replace only selected tile. Make a border or a pattern in the wall. The paint will be noticable and in the near future look tacky.

You can paint tile, but I suggest you don’t. Painted tile looks like painted tile…tacky! Plus with all the moisture the paint would peel in no time.
You can get 4×4 tiles at Menard’s and Lowe’s for like $0.35 each. That’s cheap. Measure your 3 walls, length times width to get your square footage and give the people at your local hardware, Home Depot etc the info and they will get you the correct amount of tile, plus adhesive and grout. You can rent a tile cutter as well cheap and once you tear off the old stuff, board it with cement board and retile, You’ll be glad you did. It shouldnt cost you more than $100.00.

Yes you can. It’s a cheap fix. You’ll need to consult a paint expert…..not some jock at the hardware store……as you’ll need to prep the surface…..assuming you have plastic tiles. If they are ceramic…….forget it. Actually you’d be better off installing the fiberglass or acrylic tub surrounds.

You can paint tile but, it will probably be a temporary fix. First, use a good undercoating to insure adhesion. Try Bin or Kilz. Then, maybe two coats of paint. Wash with a liquid cleanser so the paint will last longer.

Truthfully….please don’t paint over the tile. It will look tacky. You can always find some tile that is on clearance or sale for a little next to nothing. So, if you want to save time and money and not have the bathroom look horrible, I suggest you reconsider the painting. Hell, you can have my old bathroom tile if you gonna do something like that.

You’d be better off just retiling. You can get fairly cheap tiles. Painting tiles would not be worth the effort. It won’t look very good either.

Yes, you can have your current tiles recolored but it must be done by professional. The products they use are very toxic when being applied and they use ventilators and must tape off the room until the color has been applied and dry. Then it is quite safe and much less of a mess than retiling and the results are like new. Check your yellow pages under Tile Cleaning, Refinishing and Cleaning, They can also re-color your tub, sink, etc.
