Bathroom Renovation Question?

My main bath has some major problems – the floor is “soft” the toilet and shower unit are approx 35 years old and in bad shape. We are looking to renovate it. What are some things we can do ourself that will save money – Of course I know I will need a plumber to install the new fixtures. Please help

You can strip it out yourselves, that way you will be better able to judge just how bad the floor is…
If its safe and stable you should also be able to refloor it yourselves….Caber floor from most bigger DIY stores is the way it is done nowadays…
If you have any doubts about the safety aspects of the flooring then you should call in a joiner..
Get at least 3 quotes and also ask around friends and family for recommendations…

Do the demolition yourself it takes no special skills for that just sweat and sledge

Reads to me that your floor stringers have rotted and needs replacing before installing new fixtures within the bathroom. Better have a carpenter come in and look. Floor would have to be torn up, stringers replaced.
